A source from BFM TV shared this information, that as per the ministry of interior, violence conjugal has increased between 32 and 36% in France since the beginning of confinement.
To face this situation, and because it is not always easy for the victims of violence to go to the police station, a new system has been put in place, where a victim of a family violence can speak to their pharmaciens, and who inturn, will alert the police.
Three important numbers to retain:
3919 : this is a number for women, who are victim of conjugal violence and can be called from monday to saturday, 9am to 7pm.
119 : national number to support children in distress, open 24x7.
17: telephone number to connect to the police, open 24x7.
The French home minister Christophe Castaner also spoke about a code word, "masque 19" which a lady can use to alert her pharmacien, in case she is having her husband with her while visiting the pharmaciie. There is also a new website on this.
Besides, we have a list of associations here, who will listen to people in problem. You can also come to speak one of us, as per your choice, in our discussion form here.
SOS Femmes can be another website to think about if you are a lady. Men have less support compared to women in this field, however you may try them.
Needless to say, do not hesitate to contact a community member of your choice here. Do not hesitate to send me a message as well, whether you are a man or woman.
